xxxSIGRID; EDITOR
xxx
Sigrid is an air traffic controller, a geek, a parent, a home schooler, a lesbian, and an American liberal. She is polyamorous, partnered, and dating.  Her family is multi-ethnic and adopted. Sigrid is an editor for Mad Norwegian Press, working on their Girl Geek line of books, and a submissions editor for Apex Magazine, where she shovels the slush.

She spends most of her free time thinking about comics, tv, movies, and culture.

If Anika had a million dollars – she’d go back to school for marine biology, sell her house and pack her family on to an (internet ready!) boat, and sail the world saving marine life and writing a truly wonderful memoir about being a whale-saving-mommy-on-a-boat. Or she’d get her Masters in Clinical Social Work and work as a children’s therapist with an office that featured quotes from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland colorfully painted on the wall. Or she’d buy her own record company, put out fandom inspired albums and comic book musicals and go on tour as Becky Ryan of The Order.

But if Anika had a billion dollars, she’d be Batman.

xxxCAROLINE; MEDIA EDITOR
xxx
Caroline has been a teacher, a published poet, a moderately successful quiz show contestant, and a petty bureaucrat. If she’s not talking about comic books, at any given moment, she’s probably talking about Bruce Springsteen or King Lear. Spend enough time with her and you’ll get used to it.

In the past, Caroline’s favorite comic books have been Matt Fraction’s The Order and Fabian Nicieza’s Cable & Deadpool. Her favorite comic book at the moment is a closely guarded secret, so that the Powers that Be don’t find out and cancel it.

Ali lives in Brooklyn with her adorably blind kitten, Minerva. When she’s not reading comics, talking about comics, or tweeting about comics, Ali spends her free time playing Lead for the Plainfield Curling Club, trying to talk as fast as Lorelai Gilmore, and solving mundane mysteries. If she could have any superpower in the world it would be telekinesis because even if she had super-speed, she’d still always be late.

Sam is a recovering lawyer in her early 30s. She considers it her life’s goal to see every lesbian(ish) movie ever made, even the bad ones. There are a lot of bad ones. She’s written about everything from Bollywood romantic comedies to monogendered aliens in the Mass Effect video games, and she has been known to livetweet her viewings of Pretty Little Liars. Her beloved dog is named Ollie (after Queen) despite being a female, because Sam thinks traditional gender norms are kind of annoying. She is an unapologetic anglophile, and has, since the age of six, secretly dreamed of being the reincarnation of King Arthur. She’s willing to settle for being Renee Montoya’s sidekick.

xxxblog: Sweetarts and Chromosomes
xxx
Gabby is a francophone Eastern Canadian social worker in the making who is particularly obsessed with TV shows that make her pause and cover her face with her hands. Her love of the small screen translated to comics when she started reading Buffy Season 8, and now she can’t get enough of the New Avengers. She also loves to cook, run, play the ukulele, read and live tweet TV shows. As a Smallville fan turned Superman fan, some days, she wishes he would save her, but most days, she just does it herself.
xxxJESSICA
xxx
xxx
Jessica is 21 years old and getting ready to start her senior year of college, and thus is pretty much freaking out about everything. Good thing she can blog about Doctor Who to procrastinate working on her thesis! She hails from the Southland, from deep within the valley of East Tennessee, but spends most the year toiling away at a quaint liberal arts college in Connecticut.
xxxMARIE
xxx
xxx
Marie lives in Chicago and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Writing and Publishing. By day, she is a junior copywriter and graphic designer for a boutique ad agency. By night, she shamelessly loses herself to PC gaming and Fanfiction.net. In addition to being easily distracted by science, wizards, and period dramas, she enjoys reading manga, indie web comics, and pictures of Tom Hiddleston.
xxxSARA
xxxtwitter: sarsurakg
xxx
Sara is a 22-year-old recent college graduate and an aspiring doctor. She is absurdly proud of being from Brooklyn. Her parents are from Syria, making her fluent in English, Arabic, and Sarcasm. Sara has a twin sister, Yara, and together, they have made it their mission in life to wreak havoc wherever they go. So far, they’ve been fairly successful. If Sara were ever to be immortalized in comics, she would want it to be as part of the Batfamily. Her real aspiration is to be the Robin Beyond to Terry McGinnis’ Batman, who she has wanted to marry ever since she saw him at the ripe age of eleven. Her least favorite smell is that of moldy sponge and she is deathly afraid of cockroaches. Her favorite food is chicken shwarma and loves secondhand bookstores.

xxxJENNIFER
xxx
Jennifer fell into comics in 2006 while looking for a superhero story better written than X-Men: The Last Stand. An academic at heart, she co-founded Fantastic Fangirls as a venue to share her scholarly thoughts about comic books, thoughts she would later use to earn her MA in media and cultural studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Six years after picking up her first comic book and falling headfirst into comic book culture, Jennifer was hired by Marvel Comics as an assistant editor in the X-Men office and had to step down from her blogging duties. But she knows she wouldn’t be where she is today without the experience and support she gained through her time as a Fantastic Fangirl.
