Superheroine of the Night: Taraji P. Henson

The decision was easy. Last night Viola Davis became the first African-American woman to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role (as Annalise Keating in How to Get Away with Murder). When her name was called she made a bee-line for fellow nominee Taranji P. Henson (as Cookie Lyon in Empire):

It wasn’t the only hug Ms. Henson planted on a winner, either. Taranji got to give Regina King her award:

And the accompanying hug:

And then again backstage (I screencapped these from the Emmy livestream):

Taranji couldn’t get enough of supporting her teammates:

That’s what makes a superheroine. And she also dressed the part:

So this dress is amazing?

Taraji P. Henson for Spider-Woman, amirite? Or better yet, Taraji P. Henson for the villain* in the Black Widow film Marvel owes us! Sign my petition!

Black Widow

*Villain turned hero, she can be a founding member of the Thunderbolts, y/y?

Even when she’s not being dramatic with the skirt…

It is 150% heroine chic. Chains, webbing, cut out, drama. Girl was born to play a superhero!

Empire returns this week with the season two premiere on FOX, Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 10pm.
