Q&A 313: What is a new TV series you are looking forward to?

In Q & A, a weekly feature of Fantastic Fangirls, we ask our staff to tackle a simple question — then open the floor to comments.

What is a new TV series you are looking forward to?

The Muppets (premiering September 22)

Jessica: I’m a bit hesitant, but I really enjoyed the two new movies (especially the first one), so I’m cautiously optimistic that this will be fun.

Mandy: The only thing I can think of that’s remotely interesting to me is ABC’s The Muppets. Nothing else seems particularly exciting.

Supergirl (premiering October 26)

Lisa: I know everyone hails the old Helen Slater movie as one of the worst ones put to film but I had a VHS of it as a little girl that I nearly wore out rewatching. I can’t wait to see her brought to live action again, and the preview looked so good.

Sara: I did not watch the leaked first episode back in the Spring because I knew I was going to love it and having to wait five months for the next episode was going to kill me….so, in an unprecedented act of delayed gratification, I cannot WAIT until Supergirl airs. I didn’t think I was going to be interested in it. No offense to Melissa Benoist, but I didn’t immediately believe she was going to make a great Supergirl when I had heard the casting news. Boy, did that trailer prove me wrong! I love the feel of the show already and the twists they made to canon Superman characters (hel-lo Jimmy Olsen!). Between what look to be amazing effects and the crazy packed cast, I am very excited to see where this show takes us!

Jessica Jones (premiering November 20)

Jessica Jones

Anika: I cannot coherently express my excitement about this series but here’s what Krysten Ritter said about her character:

Jessica Jones has been through a lot, and she is totally traumatized; and she is really just trying to make a buck to buy a whiskey and stay alive, and that is it. She isn’t really interested in participating in any social communities, she has one friend, she keeps her world very small.

And here’s a picture of Jessica and Luke:

Caroline: I’m still a little in awe that we live in a world where a Jessica Jones TV series is going to exist, and I love Krysten Ritter to pieces. I’m trying to manage my expectations — the Alias comics series is very important to me, and there are so many possibilities for going either too far from the original or sticking closely to the story but getting key things wrong. So I’m nervous, but I’m mostly excited.

So what about you? What is a new TV series you are looking forward to?
