Skipping to Conclusions: Marvel’s 2014 Sequels

In geekdom, we see a lot of teasers. Sometimes it’s just an image or the name of a creator, other times it’s a trailer or a simple tag line. Whatever it is, it’s meant to get a reaction from you and start a discussion. Inspired by the anticipation and buzz caused by these teasers, we at Fantastic Fangirls present Skipping to Conclusions in which we speculate about the comics, movies, TV shows, or whatever we’re excited about but hasn’t come out yet.

New trailers for both upcoming Marvel sequels were played during last night’s Superbowl. I’ve been saying for, well, a year, that I don’t know which 2014 movie I am more excited for, the new Captain America film or the new Spider-Man film. On one hand…

Bucky Barnes.

Bucky Barnes. But on the other hand…

Harry

Harry Osborn.

Gwen

Gwen.

Natasha

Natasha.

Chris Evans can sell this utterly ridiculous line.

But Andrew Garfield actually is Peter Parker:

Spidey has my heart.

Boom

Cap has this:

#Bitches get stuff done

#Bitches get stuff done

It’s still a tie.

Here are the new previews:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This is action packed. I love Natasha’s intro. Falcon looks amazing. I’m so ridiculously excited for the Bucky’s eyeliner cosplays. I have no idea what the plot of this movie is*. I’m scared for the crying. I am counting the days.

*I’ve read the comics but based solely on the trailer.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (this is the “Villains Unite” trailer)

I like that there are fewer explosions and more goofy moments because that is Spider-Man. I love how smart Gwen is. Poor Electro, I get you. I want all of Gwen’s clothes. The plot of this movie is way overcomplicated. I’m terrified for the crying. I am counting the days.

In conclusion:

1. I will be disappointed by these films.
2. I will love these films.
3. Falcon
